1 Week Late
I admit… I’ve been having a bit of a “dilation pity party” this week. I feel like a bad dilator… a week late and only 1cm!! Shouldn’t things be “happening” by now??
Last night I got a glimmer of hope. I felt a few good contractions!! I started thinking maybe things are going to happen sooner than later. I was so excited I did what every reasonable mom-to-be would do… I took a shower, shaved my legs, gave myself a pedicure, put on some self-tanner, curled my hair, and put on some make-up. Mind you it was 11:30 at night, but if it was going to happen I wanted to look my best! Well nothing happened… all that beautifying for nothing. I haven’t felt any more contractions since.
We had another appointment at the doctor today (I’m going every other day now until he comes) and everything is looking great! So it's silly to be feeling sorry for myself right??? I blame it on hormones! At any rate... Doctor Biter said Baby B is weighing around 7 lbs, so there is no worry of him being “too big”, and he continues to score a perfect 8/8 for fetal vital signs. He’s happy as can be in there-kicking all over, practice breathing, sucking his thumb, etc! We decided that even though my patience is being stretched to the limit, that it is best to let nature do it’s thing. So it could be any minute… or it could be another full week!! If Baby B does not come in the next few days we will induce early next week, which will be a full 2 weeks late! In the meantime, I’m going to try to focus on the positive. No more dilation pity parties. Even though my cervix is not dilating… my uterus gets an A+ for providing such a fabulous and comfortable home! And I'm just going to start ignoring all of the pregnancy/baby newsletters with the subject "Congratulations on Your Newborn". I'm sure they are not trying to intentionally throw it in my face that I'm late :-)

Due Date is Done...
It's official- Baby B is overdue! I think this is payback for every time I've been "fashionably late". Now we get to play the waiting game a little longer...

Nursery
Yea!!! The nursery is now 99.9% finished! The only thing we have left to do is hang a few pictures. Whoo Hoo!! :-) THANK YOU so much to my mom for sewing all of the bed linens (crib sheets, bumper, bed skirt), the curtains, and the accessories (basket liners, boppy pillow slipcovers, etc). You're the best!! It looks AMAZING. And THANK YOU to my fabulous husband for making the changing table (that's right, Dustin built that from scratch), painting the room, hanging the crown molding, and painting the dresser. Baby Bradley now has the perfect room to come to!
Laurie's Baby Shower
We had Laurie & Rob's baby shower today, which was a blast! It was so great getting to see old friends from college (Michelle Molina, Greg Milans & Lisa Bartos) and meeting new friends! Even though the weather was stormy (that's right.... stormy in San Diego!) everyone had a great time. Thank you Chip & Bethany for hosting!
Baby B is now officially allowed to come anyday!! I've been talking to him all week... "Sweet baby please stay in mommy's tummy for a few more days... mommy has to make it to Laurie's shower". He's not even born yet, and he's already a great listener!

Week 38 Appointment
Baby Bradley had his 38 week appointment today and everything went great! He is measuring right on schedule, but according to the doctor "could come anyday"!! Dustin and I are about 97% ready I think. We still need to hang the curtains in the nursery, pack my hospital bag, finish up a little laundry, etc.
I'm still working, and plan to work until the 13th. This will probably be my last week in the office though and I'll work from home next week. We'll see how it goes. This is all assuming Baby B will be on time, which is an unpopular assumption these days. It seems most of our family is now convinced he's going to be early. Fred has money on the 9th, which happens to be a full moon. You do hear about lots of babies being born on full moons! My mom thinks the 11th. I'm kind of thinking around the 11th too. Dustin just wants him... NOW! We'll see!! :-)
Funny story- When we were leaving the doctor's office today a little girl (probably 2???) started screaming "ball ball ball" and pointing at my stomach. Her mom had to explain that I didn't have a ball, that I was carrying a baby. Soooo cute :-)
Another funny story: Last night I was brushing my teeth and when I went to spit out my toothpaste... I totally missed the sink. Instead it went all over my belly! I guess when I'm not paying attention I totally forget that my body sticks out about a foot more than it used to. Ha ha. Sorry Baby B!!
