Lake Monticello

Happy 30th Birthday Erin!  Dylan and I flew out to surprise Erin for her birthday and Colleen was gracious enough to let us stay at her lakehouse, right outside of Charlottesvile, for the weekend!  It was a great, relaxing weekend- just what we all needed!  We spent a day wine tasting in Virginia wine country- so beautiful.  Dylan loved being at the lake and watching all of the boats.  Colleen and Steve drove down from Richmond on Sunday and took us out on the boat.  Dylan even helped Captain Steve drive the boat, very fast, which he thought was the most fun ever!!  It was great seeing Colleen and Steve- only one more month until Baby Girl Q arrives!!

Big Sur- Post Ranch Inn

Dustin has had his eye on staying at the Post Ranch Inn for years.  For me it was always a dream, a very expensive/there's no way we can afford this anytime soon dream. Waaaaaaaaay too out of our price range!!

When Dustin suggested we use some of his inheritance and spend a long weekend at the Post Ranch Inn, I thought "no way"- too rich for my blood!  But I warmed up to the idea after a few weeks of arm twisting and major guilt trips.  It's was something luxurious and extravagant- something Fred would have wanted us to do.  So we booked for the weekend of our 7-year anniversary- perfect!

On the way to Big Sur, we took the scenic route through Malibu and stopped in Santa Barbara for the night. It was such a beautiful drive.  Once we arrived at the Post Ranch Inn we dropped off the keys for the Prius and picked our Lexus, a convertible.  That's right- free Lexus to use while staying at the hotel!  I told you, this place was... NICE!  We stayed in the Coast House- amazing view and right on the cliff overlooking the ocean.  Breathtaking!!  The entire property- breathtaking.  There really are no words for our beautiful everything was.  We did a lot of relaxing, got massages, and enjoyed several very, very nice meals.

We were also brave and tried the hot springs... a midnight dip at Esalen Institute.  It was... memorable. :)
